Dear Band Parents and Students,
We will be taking about 20 students to the Central Michigan University School of Music for their annual Instrument Day for high school students. We will be leaving at 6am from the High School Parking lot and we will be arriving back to the HS around 5pm. Students participating will need their instruments and either a bag lunch or money for lunch. Parents with students that are going: We need approximately 5 drivers to drive all of the students to CMU. (We do this to cut down costs). It is an amazing day for instrumental music instruction, as each student will be working with a college music professor for the entire day. Please email me (email@example.com) if you are available to drive. On a side note: CMU only allows me to take 2 students per instrument type. I want to make sure everyone that wants to have this experience, is able to participate. To make sure this happens, a student who goes, only gets one opportunity to participate. I am looking forward to a great day of music making at CMU next friday. Fire Up
Marching uniforms will be collected on Saturday Nov. 16th from 9 – 4.
Please make sure that you turn in your ........ jacket, pants, hat, hat box and garment bag.
Concert uniforms will also be issued that day. Please remember to bring the $20 dry cleaning fee ...made out to PCS !!
Ladies if you are wearing the concert dress that you already have you may turn in your uniform sometime this week. Please hang it on the rack in the band room and place your hat on top. If you just ordered a dress, we expect them to arrive this week and therefore you can pick them up when you bring in your uniform on Saturday.
We all work full time jobs and only have so many volunteer hours we can fit in. If anyone needs service hours come on in and work. We will be more than happy to sign your form for you.
We could still use some folks to help collect and issue uniforms on Sat. Nov. 16th. We will be there from 9 – 4.
If you can help out for a few hours please contact Cherie Rowse at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Dear Band Parents,
Please join us for the annual Band O'Rama this Friday, Nov. 8th in the Jane Tasch Theater @ 7:00pm
We are suggesting a $2 donation per person for the concert. All proceeds will go to the HS and Pathfinder Band Program.
Students Call Time for Nov. 8th:
Wind Ensemble - 6:45pm - Navigator Choir Room
Symphony Band - 6:30pm - Navigator Choir Room
Thursday, Nov. 7th is our dress rehearsal in the Tasch theater. We will rehearse from 6:30pm till 8:30pm
This year we will feature both HS concert bands as well as the Marching Band and Pathfinder bands. I am looking forward to showing off the band members' hard work. It will be an excellent concert.
On a side note:
I have had some concerns addressed to me regarding the conflict of Band O' Rama with the football playoff game this Friday. This conflict was brought up with the Dr. Darga before the football team qualified for the second round of playoffs and again today with Mr. Todd, PCS Superintendent. With the understanding that rescheduling a concert involving 300 families is extremely difficult and time available in the Jane Tasch is finite, the decision was made to leave the Band O' Rama performance on Nov. 8th. It is exciting to see the students and community wanting the band at the playoff game and it is unfortunate that this conflict happened. Band O' Rama will no longer be scheduled on a Friday (its traditional performance slot) in the future. We will be with the team in spirit. There has been talk of a group of students that play for the team as they leave for the game and possibly when the team comes back from the game. We also plan to keep everyone informed of the game's status during Band O' Rama.
For those students who are going to camp skyline: you need to be at Band O' Rama on Friday night. Please be there no later than 7:30pm. You are free to go as soon as your performance is over.
All the Best,
